Summary You can use Migration Assistant to transfer your files and important settings from an older Mac to a new one. Migration Assistant utility is only available in Mac OS X 10.5 and newer.
I just migrated to a new computer. Uploaded Office:mac 2011. Word and Excel are working. Outlook is telling me: This identity cannot be opened with this version of Outlook. I entered the key correctly, the passwords should be good, I just don't know where I need to go in the system to get this fixed. During installation of Office:Mac 2011. I had a legitimate copy of MS Office for Mac on my computer when the motherboard fried. I cloned the HD to my new Mac, but when I tried to open Office 2011, I was informed that I had reached the limit on the number of authorised computers. 1) Move to a new computer without Office installed (same version). Install Office and update [important] Open Entourage or Outlook and it will create a Microsoft User Data folder and a new blank Identity. I just got a new Mac, and I used migration assistant to transfer all my apps and stuff. But now MS Office apps are asking for a product key, so apparently that didn't transfer.
Requirements To use Migration Assistant, both Macs must be either Firewire / Thunderbolt capable or be connected to the same Ethernet or wireless network. Tip: If you have a MacBook Air or MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), make sure both computers are connected to the same Ethernet or wireless network. To transfer files via Migration Assistant • Before performing migration, Software Update on your older Mac to ensure you get the latest updates for Mac OS X. • If you're using a portable Mac, make sure the power cable is connected. • On your new Mac, open Migration Assistant, located in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder or search for Migration Assistant in Spotlight Search. • Read the Introduction screen, then click Continue.
• If a dialog appears, type your admin password, then click OK. • In the Migration Method screen, select From another Mac, then click Continue. • If you are transferring via FireWire, connect a FireWire cable between your new Mac and your earlier Mac, then click Continue (skip step 8).

• If you are transferring via a wired (Ethernet) or wireless network: • Make sure both computers are on the same local network, or connect them directly to each other with an Ethernet cable if both have an Ethernet port. • On the computer you are transferring files to, click 'Use Network', then click Continue, then click 'From another Mac'. Cd/dvd reader for mac. • On the Mac you are transferring from, open Migration Assistant, click 'Use Network', then click Continue, then click 'To another Mac'. • Follow the onscreen instructions to connect the computers via a passcode and transfer files.
