Categories for downloaded transactions are assigned in order according to the following rules: 1. The imported QIF, WebEntry, QuickEntry, or Pocket Quicken transaction has a category associated with it as part of the file import. A transaction exists in the memorized transaction list with a matching Payee name with the category. The financial institution has associated a Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code with this transaction.
Auto Categorization is enabled. Per rule 2: if you have a 'memorized' transaction for that specific payee with the correct category in it, and you have your Quickfill options set (via Edit > Options > Register > Quickfill) correctly to 'Complete fields using previous entries' and 'Recall memorized transactions', you should get the correct category assigned.

I have Quicken 2016. I have been using Quicken for many years. I download my transactions from RBC and Servus Credit Union. Using Quicken Essential 1.7.1 2010 mac 10.5.8 Can not download. It worked fine upto 12/31/10. But now it doesn't pick up any 2011 transactions on several of my bank accounts.
XX equals the last two digits of the Quicken version you used before converting the file. So for Quicken 2015, the subfolder is named Q15FILES. I had Quicken 2012 or older. Can I convert directly to my new version of Quicken?
