Limited Warranty and Service: Your MacBook Pro with Retina display comes with 90 days of free telephone support and a one-year limited warranty. I have an SSD from MacBook Pro 15' Retina Display Mid 2012, and now, I'm using a newer model of MacBook Pro. I'm trying to recover my data o that SSD and have been trying to find the SSD to USB adapter/converter online but haven't found a fit. I just got a MacBook Pro mid 2012 non retina for very cheap, I wonder what CPU can fit inside it, I want to get a i7-3610QM, but I dont know if my MacBook supports it?
Launch the app, locate your.iso file, choose your USB drive (double check it’s the correct one!) and then hit ‘install’. Other GUI alternatives include How to Make a Bootable Linux USB Drive on Ubuntu Ubuntu comes with an app to create live USB drives already installed. Like LiLi above, Unetbootin can even automatically download a Linux distro.iso file, which is handy if you feel the itch to distro hop but don’t know exactly which flavor to try. Open the Dash and search for ‘USB Startup’. Remember that to boot from a USB on a Mac you will need to hold down the Alt/Option’ key during boot. Make a bootable mac disk.
I am buy my first Mac. I am either getting mac book pro 2012, refurbished and released in June, which comes about 300$ cheaper. Or, the macbook pro with retina display. I would favor the macbook pro (June 2012, Refurbished) for the following reasons: - The hardware can be easily upgradable, so when ssd drops in price, the hd can be replaced. Same applies to RAM. - Resolution 1600x1080 is reasonably good - It comes with 3rd generation processor - Optical Drive and Ethernet included CONS: Price is as high as the new macbook pro with retina, weights 2.5 Kg, it is the older model.

I would favor the macbook pro with retina for the following reasons: - Screen 🙂 - Portability - ssd CONS: not enough apps available to make use of Retina (Some apps, programs may even look worse). Not upgradable. Repair and maintanance is more expensive.
Need to buy ethernet adapter, and optical drive which add to the price. With 256 Gb ssd, and external storage device is needed.
Please advice. You've answered your own questions with regards to the Macbook Pro with Retina Screen - I own one of them and to this day, I prefer to use my late 2011 15 inch and 13 inch over my Retina Macbook Pro since Adobe and Microsoft hasn't realeased an update in their software to support the Retina Screen. You will not go wrong with the 15 Inch Macbook Pro - upgrade to 16GB and install a SSD and you've got a screaming machine. Remember - you wanted to buy an external drive and an exernal optical drive to compensate the short comings of the Macbook Retina. Stick with the non-Retina for now.
Or, purchase the Retina and if you're not happy with it, return it and exchange it for a non-Retina version before your 14 day return/exchange is up. - On a non-Retina Macbook Pro. I upgraded mine to 16GB Crucial RAM and installed a 512MB Crucial SSD in my late 2011 15 Inch Macbook Pro. I also upgraded to 16GB Patriot Mac Series and installed a 240GB Kingston HyperX SSD in my late 2011 13 Inch Macbook Pro. Speed - Speed and more Speed - boot up time to desktop - 13 seconds. Photoshop opens instantly and RAM? Never an issue running out.
Look at the image below - 16GB of RAM - 9 Applications running - and still have lot's of RAM to spare - 0 page outs and 0 swap file used. Having extended warranty is a good idea - you can get Apple to install your RAM and SSD if they would do it for you - but they charge an arm and a leg for a 30 minute upgrade. I just got my MBP retina 16GB/768 ssd.
П™‚ I only recommend this config. My theory about computers is: the better they work, the better i work. The better i work, the more i make. Best to max it out and not fight with upgrading for longer 🙂 cheaper than the time and downtime it takes to upgrade.

П™‚ And yea, Apple's warranty is pretty generous. From a business standpoint, I see how/why. On my MBP 17' my fan got squeaky in a dusty enviornment. But I always take my Apple devices to this particular Apple store a block and a half away from work. So I thought this time 'I will just buy a replacement fan and change it myself later, might as well just take it out and put some WD-40 on it 'till then'. Because I didn't want to bother Apple for such a small problem, when I've had real problems before (like bluetooth on iPhone/etc) they've always been so helpful, to waste their time for a $10 part. Went on eBay, bought the fan.
